Gdybym miał lat dwadzieścia pięć
I nieprzytomną moją głowę,
A w głowie nieba jedną piędź
I jedno oko lazurowe,

Może pod okno twoje znów
Przyniósłbym wierną mą niewolę,
Może bym szukał innych słów,
Tak jak się szuka wiatru w polu,

Lecz że już nie mam dawnych lat,
A lazur białym śniegiem opadł,
Opuszczam ciebie, idę w świat,
W nieunikniony mój listopad.

W zamarłym lesie brodzę sam,
Do ust przyciskam srebrny grzebień
I niewymyślną polkę gram,
I nie oglądam się za siebie.
