Talk:James Elroy Flecker

The "Collected Poems" edited by J. C. Squire (1916) is not always a satisfactory basis for Flecker's poems. The Collected Poems omits the versions in "The Bridge of Fire" when revised versions were published in Forty-Two Poems; all these earlier versions are given here. Also, there is no obvious basis for the ordering in the Collected Poems. Thus, for the four books of poetry published in Flecker's lifetime, the order of the poems in those books are used and "The Bridge of Fire" is given complete, with all the original texts.

The Collected Poems was used for the Juvenilia and other previously unpublished poems. The ordering is taken from that book, but the new poems are intermingled with previously published ones.--Poetlister 17:58, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
