(Written for Music)
Once on a time, in Pontypool,
There lived a maid, all beautiful;
And every time she went abroad,
The people cried, with one accord -
"Here comes our sweetest, lovely Sally!
Sally, the lily of our valley!"
As sweet as any nut put by,
Selected by a Squirrel's eye;
As pure as any drop of dew
A bird drinks, after looking through -
No wonder every voice cried "Sally!
Sally, the Lily of our Valley!"
