I see the busy stars at work,
And question what they do.
There comes a voice - "They knit a shroud,
A dead man's shroud for you."
"No, no," a second voice doth say,
"I'll tell thee what they make:
They knit a veil a lady'll wear
Some morning for your sake."
Yours is the knowledge, lady, speak;
The truth is known to thee;
Is it a shroud or bridal veil,
Death or sweet life for me?
