| Notes | As mentioned on the individual file pages, File:C._S._Lewis_-_Mere_Christianity.pdf and File:Mere_Christianity.pdf are not identical but I think the former is more accurate, since it includes italics and Lewis explicitly mentions the use of italics in his preface. Neither file appears to be a direct scan of the original. I've also noticed at least one small difference: the former file refers to "Acts xi 26" and the latter has "Acts 11:26". I'm not sure how many other small typographical errors and conventions are different between the editions but I'm not doing a very close reading since neither is an original--I'm just using what I think is the better scan. - I agree. Both claim an origin in the same 2003 scan and OCR by Copper Kettle. Retaining italics and the format of biblical citations makes a strong case for the version you prefer. The alternative version also indicates that it has been subject to spell-checking. It makes me suspicious when an American religious organization (truthaccordingtoscripture.com) applies spell-checking to a work by a known British author. I would be inclined to delete the alternative. We have several Samizdat versions of works. All have presumably uploaded in good faith. Readers nee to be warned to apply caution when depending on the accuracy of such texts. Eclecticology 11:58, 11 May 2015 (PDT)
